Differences between 2002’s Red Dragon and 1986’s Manhunter

Starting off i would like to point out that the recent 2013 series ‘Hannibal’ is more a re-imagination of the fates of the original Red Dragon novel’s characters. The timeline is set before the events of the first novel and many of the character’s defining traits have been altered. For example Freddie Lounds has become a woman in her 20’s, dr. Bloom has also had a gender change of the same magnitude, becoming from a male doctor in his 50’s to a female doctor in her 30’s and Jack Crawford is now black and about 15 years younger. There are plays of the different evens in the red dragon novel in the series, freddie lounds being tracked down by a serial killer trying to make her write the story the way he sees it, not unlike Dollarhyde, there’s also an episode that mentions the local opera becoming better after the disappearance, presumably by Hannibal’s hand, of one of the opera’s members. By the end of the series though the timeline of events has been severly altered compared to both the original movie and novel so i will disregard the tv series in my comparrison for now.

Isle of Man – ultimul loc liber din lume

Uite parerea mea:

The end of TV

Summer is almost here and production has officially wrapped on two of the best if not the best two tv series around. Breaking Bad Season 5 Part II and Dexter Season 8 commence in but a few months and it’s just about time to get all hyped for the end. If you haven’t seen either one of these amazing shows now’s the time to begin because once the final episode has aired, you can bet the shows are gonna be spoiled for you. So the end begins a bit sooner for tv’s favorite serial killer, Dexter’s first episode of season 8 begins June 30th with Breaking Bad’s episode 9 of Season 5 airing August 11th.

Hannibal Tv-Series

Ok, so, we all know Hannibal Lecter, right? The brilliant psychiatrist turned cannibal, made famous in the early 90s movie “Silence of the Lambs” by Anthony Hopkins? The first movie showed us an imprisoned Hannibal, helping a young FBI agent track down a crazed killer known as Buffalo Bill. In 2001’s “HannibalHopkins reprises his role, as a now fugitive serial killer running around Europe ‘causing all sorts of trouble. Only a year later yet another Hannibal Lecter movie is released, this time a prequel, telling the story of a pre-incarcerated Hannibal based on a novel with the same name “Red Dragon”. And it is that same novel that has sprawled this year’s tv series which features a very refined, calm and generally non-creepy version of the iconic character, at least in the very beginning.

Pain and Gain

There’s generally two types of views with regards to Michael Bay’s work, there are those who absolutely hate his filmmaking, claiming it’s nothing more than a bunch of explosions and action scenes packed together piling up a cheap roller-coaster ride and then there are those who think his movies are ‘ok’. I’m not part of eighter one of those groups, i think Bay is a freakin’ genius.
